The Tao Of Daniel: CONTAINER
It has been said that there is the individual, the group, the society, the country, the planet, the Universe, and then there is the TAO.
The Tao, in this way, contains all things.
It is both in relationship with all things and IS the relationship of all things; both the container and the content.
It is not too important, however, how BIG or powerful the Tao is, because it is felt and tasted and touched and heard and seen in everything, no matter how small.
The Tao reminds us that we, too, are a part of everything else; the way we walk, learned from our parents; our diets, based on our cultural upbringing; our mannerisms and personality, gathered from hundreds of friendships and social exchanges throughout our lives.
It is not that we are individuals, as is allegedly the more common attitude in the West. It is also not that we are a tiny cog in some collective National, Political, Cultural and/or Religious machine.
It is somehow both.
And it’s a paradox indeed.
How does one live, sustain and understand oneself in such a way?
It’s a mystery. Nobody knows. And yet we have no choice but to try.
Intelligent, conscious beings do not have any clearer answers to these dilemmas - this is important to remember.
If anything, true Taoists are even more clueless than non-Taoists, because contradiction is the root of all true understanding.
To discover contradiction is to discover the Tao.
