The TAO Of Daniel: CHOICE
Does the river know where she’s headed? Did it choose the way or was it already decided for her?
There’s no knowing of certain things in this universe. We have limited perceptions, powers and opportunities. Our conscious plans, however, whilst limiting the possible avenues and turns that our life may take, allow a sense of infinity within such domains.
As the great Miyamoto Musashi once said: “to know the way in one thing is to know the way broadly in all things”.
In this sense, it could be that by choosing a small world for oneself, one’s experience of it is deepened, to the point where ‘there was really no other choice in the first place’, and only one path will reveal itself moving forward.
The river, while adapting itself spontaneously to the obstacles around it, nonetheless has a destination, and an end point to reach. It’s adjustments are in service of it’s higher purpose: to reach the great wide open!
Just as ours are also, likely, to connect with something larger than ourselves.
Something community-driven, worldly, spiritual or even ‘Godly’ perhaps…
…such as that thing we call TAO.
